Milton Keynes Hospital's mains water supply is restored after builders drill through mains water pipe

Milton Keynes Hospital has confirmed that its mains water supply has been restored after builders drilled through the mains water pipe.

The hospital declared an "internal incident" yesterday morning due to the loss of mains water at around 9:30 am, with wards and clinical areas having to use the back up water tanks.

A hospital spokesperson announced that the full extent of the problem was unknown and that they did not know how long the repairs would take.

But last night, at 7:50 pm, it was confirmed that the repairs had been done and the full water supply would gradually be restored.

Milton Keynes Hospital said on their website: "The mains water pipe has been repaired and full water supply will now slowly be restored to the hospital, follow a loss of supply earlier in the day.

"Hospital services have been unaffected during the loss of supply thanks to reserve tanks and detailed contingency planning.

"Patients are advised to continue to attend the hospital as normal for planned appointments."
