Milton Keynes Hospital benefits from continuing wheelchair campaign - here’s how you can help

Before Christmas, MKFM told how a man from the new city was channelling the grief of losing his partner by raising money to purchase essential wheelchairs for Milton Keynes Hospital.

Andy Hodges wanted to deliver one chair to the ward that had cared so well for his partner Deborah Day, before she sadly passed away in October.

Since launching his GoFundMe page, Andy has exceeded his hopes; last week he delivered two more chairs to the hospital, taking the current total number of chairs donated to four.

Wards 15, 16, 17 and 18 now have brilliant new wheelchairs, which mean the difference between patients being confined to bed or being able to be more independent while in hospital.

Andy’s sights are now set on delivering chairs to Wards 19 and 20.

“I don't want Debbie to just be another lady that just died in a hospital bed, Andy said, “She inspired me to try to get one wheelchair for one ward.

“But that one wheelchair turned into two wheelchairs, and now into four. Hopefully those four wheelchairs will one day turn into a wheelchair on every ward at our hospital.

    “Wouldn’t that be fantastic?”
