Milton Keynes Hospital benefits by man's generous act in memory of his partner

Last week, MKFM told how a man from the new city has channelled the grief of losing his partner and has been fundraising to purchase much-needed wheelchairs for Milton Keynes Hospital.

At the weekend, Andy Hodges returned to Ward 16, which had cared so well for his partner Deborah Day, to deliver the two chairs.

Andy was accompanied by Debbie’s eldest daughter, Kirsty on the visit.

“This will help our patients to be more independent within the ward, and to enable them to visit the restaurant or hospital shop. It will also help patients to travel between their bed space and the toilet in a dignified manner,” said Ward Matron Sarah.

"We are beyond grateful for the fundraising to support Ward 16 and Ward 15’s patients and staff,” she added.

Andy isn't finished yet though - the charity work continues: “Ideally I would like to get wheelchairs for all the wards but that's too big a target so my next aim is Ward 17, the heart ward,” he told us.
