Milton Keynes Hospital appeal reaches half time

Pledge a Present fundraiser working towards £3000 goal.

Milton Keynes Hospital's charity push has made the half-way point for this year’s Christmas gift appeal. The Pledge a Present campaign, which is raising funds to buy a gift for every patient in hospital over the festive period, has a target of £3000.

Already more than 60 donors to the hospital’s online appeal have helped create a total of over £1600.

But as November turns into December, the charity is now urging local people, groups and businesses to get involved and support the initiative, saying the joy of a gift will make all the difference to many people in hospital over Christmas.

“A stay in hospital at any time can be difficult, but it’s particularly hard at Christmas,” said Vanessa Holmes, Associate Director for the charity. From those feeling alone and isolated, to children receiving treatment and undergoing surgery, your kindness will help us bring joy to those who need it most during the festive season.

“Together, we're aiming to raise enough funds to buy gifts and work with wards to hand deliver them to every single patient this Christmas.”

Vanessa said people never plan to be in hospital over Christmas, so the charity is working with the organisation’s medical teams to make sure their experience there comes with some festive joy. Last year MK Dons players, including legend Dean Lewington, visited the hospital’s children’s emergency department to support the campaign.
