Milton Keynes Highways team prepare drains ahead of this weekends predicted heavy downpours

There has been a yellow weather warning issued for heavy rain which will begin this weekend.

With heavy rain and thundery showers expected this weekend, The Highways team have been busy gully cleaning.

Milton Keynes Council has warned: "Gullies (road drains) will remove amounts of surface water but if the rain is heavy especially over a short period, there may be localised flooding."

There are warnings that the heavy rain and thundery showers expected may lead to flooding and cause impacts to travel and power supplies.

Rainfall amounts are expected to vary from place to place, with a potential for up to 100mm of rain water to build up in some places over this weekend.

Milton Keynes is one of the locations named affected by this weekends weather warning.

Temperatures are set to remain above 20 degrees despite the expected rainfall.
