The Milton Keynes Heritage Open Days returns this Friday (September 6), offering a ten-day celebration of the city’s rich and diverse heritage.
Running from Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 15, this annual event is set to delight visitors of all ages with over 230 free activities, including family-friendly events, guided walks, historic talks, cycle rides, creative workshops, open days, exhibitions, film screenings, and musical performances.
Some of the city’s key attractions will be opening their doors free of charge, including the Milton Keynes Museum, Great Linford Manor Park, Westbury Arts Centre, Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre, The Stables Theatre, Milton Keynes Arts Centre, and the Cowper & Newton Museum in Olney.
The event is organised by Living Archive MK, with funding from Milton Keynes City Council. It represents a collaborative effort between heritage, cultural, and community organisations across the city, all of whom contribute their time and resources to make the Heritage Open Days completely free.
This year’s theme, Routes, Networks, and Connections, will explore global connections with a wide variety of workshops, exhibitions, film screenings, and events that celebrate the cultural contributions of communities from places as far afield as Ukraine, India, and Sierra Leone. Attendees can immerse themselves in the culture and cuisine of different lands, participate in artist-led workshops, and enjoy the best of what Milton Keynes has to offer through this extraordinary programme of events.
For individuals unable to attend scheduled events, there will also be self-guided walks and trails available, allowing participants to explore the city’s heritage at their own pace.
Brochures for Milton Keynes Heritage Open Days can be picked up from local libraries and supermarkets from the beginning of August. Alternatively, you can explore the full range of events online at Living Archive MK’s website.
