The Parks Trust is launching a new, free-to-join cycling session to help keep people active.
MK Health Rides will provide an opportunity to help improve health, build confidence, meet new people, and explore the great outdoors.
The friendly and accessible group ride will meet at Campbell Park every other Thursday, from March 5, to discover the city’s beautiful parks, waterways and leisure routes.
Designed as the cycling equivalent of the popular MK Health Walks programme - which has been running for two decades - MK Health Rides will encourage people of all abilities to stay active on bikes, trikes, handcycles and more. Taking a gentle, beginner‑friendly pace, they’re perfect for those looking to start or return to cycling.
Participants will explore varied routes including Campbell Park, Canal Broadwalk, the Ouzel Valley and Willen Lake, with paths changing each session to keep the experience fresh and exciting. Rides may include a mix of leisure routes, Redways and short, very quiet road sections.
“We can’t wait to get MK Health Rides rolling. It’s all about getting outside, having a good time, and enjoying the city’s amazing green spaces together,” said David Lewis, Recreation and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator at The Parks Trust, “Whether you’re new to cycling or just fancy a gentle ride with good company, everyone’s welcome.”
MK Health Rides are generally suitable for adapted bikes and handcycles to reflect The Parks Trust’s ongoing commitment to creating inclusive opportunities for communities to enjoy Milton Keynes’ amazing parks. Anyone requiring accessibility assistance or wishing to discuss specific needs is encouraged to contact the team at events@theparkstrust.com
Participants will meet at Campbell Park Pavilion to set off at 2pm, with the rides lasting for around an hour. No booking is required - simply turn up and ride.
