Milton Keynes girl dancer represents Ireland

    Jamie-Leigh competes in European competition.

A young dancer, who was born in Milton Keynes, has represented Ireland in a recent European dance finals.

Jamie-Leigh Evans, 12, grew up in MK but moved to Ireland three years ago. The dance fan joined a group called FitKid which operates in nine counties across Europe including Ireland, Spain, Italy, Poland and Hungary.

Each year they compete in a national competition where Jamie-Leigh came in the top three of her category to put her through to attend the European Finals.

The week-long finals event takes place over seven days and Jamie-Leigh competed this Monday in Nagykanzsia, south Hungary. The competition was tough with 16 participants in her category. While she did not achieve a top three place, Jamie-Leigh was delighted to have danced for Ireland in a European contest.

“Words can not describe how proud I am of Jamie-Leigh and the hard work and dedication she puts into dancing,” he said. “She trains four days a week and puts everything into bettering herself.

“Jamie-Leigh aspires to one day teach dance herself and I have no doubt at all this will be a dream come true for her.”
