After Milton Keynes City Council planted 6,000 trees and created vibrant Forest Gardens the results are already blooming.
Across the city, young trees are thriving, with fresh green leaves popping out showing a strong start to the growing season. Many local families have joined in to help build insect hotels, take part in nature scavenger hunts, and help with wildlife surveys.
To keep everything growing the City Council has put a 1,000-litre water container in each Forest Garden - making it easier for volunteers to keep the plants hydrated and healthy through the summer. The gardens are already buzzing with life, from flowering lavender and strawberries to ladybirds.
Over at Leon Recreation Grounds in Bletchley, the planters are alive with insects, and the raised beds are now home to herbs and pollinator-friendly seeds. The first three community sessions have been a great success bringing people together to nurture these green spaces and enjoy the sunshine.
The Forest Gardens are not just growing plants, they’re growing a community, biodiversity, and a greener future for Milton Keynes.
Last year we’ve planted more than 2,000 trees as part of our commitment to keep Milton Keynes a green, sustainable, and healthy city.
