Milton Keynes footballer is new star of international soccer campaign

Ten-year-old Miami features in global advertisement.

A young Milton Keynes football player has been chosen to be the face of a UEFA global advertising campaign.

Miami Anderson, 10, who started her football journey at Bletchley’s MK City, and MK Gallacticos in Fishermead, has been selected by UEFA to be the subject of a new global advertising campaign ‘There’s no stopping the unstoppable’.

It’s part of the European football governing body’s six-year campaign to elevate women’s football to greater heights by 2023. The #WePlayStrong advertising film is being aired at the current Women's Euros championship inside stadiums before and after the games as well as across European TV.

Rising star Miami, who also featured at MK Dons Academy before being recruited by leading club Aston Villa, is seen at the start and end of the campaign’s film in a garden party dress but longing to play football with friends. The advert is also going to be used next season for UEFA’s Women’s Champions League.

“This is an incredible honour and an unprecedented opportunity for a young player from our town,” said proud dad Ivan. “Her image is now being broadcast globally, inspiring countless young girls and boys to pursue their dreams in football.

“Her early experience laid the foundation for her progression to MK Dons where her natural ability and relentless hard work did not go unnoticed. Miami then trialled at Aston Villa Women's Academy, one of the most prestigious academies in the country. She is now about to embark on her fourth year with Aston Villa, a remarkable achievement for any young player, let alone one of her age.”

Ivan believes his daughter’s story highlights the talent nurtured within the MK community and underscores the growing prominence of women's football.

“Her journey from local pitches to a national academy and now to a global UEFA campaign is a testament to what can be achieved,” he said.
