Woughton residents who attended a free Art and Wellbeing course earlier this year will show the fruits of their labours in a new exhibition later this week.
The course, organised by Woughton Community Council, was led by new city artist Sarah Watts, and allowed participants to explore drawing and other practices at their own pace.
The sessions were designed not just to build artistic skills but to offer a safe and inclusive environment where individuals could reconnect with themselves and one another.
“Art has an extraordinary way of holding us, of helping us pause, reconnect, and rebuild,” Sarah said, “In these sessions, the act of making became a space for self-discovery, healing, and shared humanity.”
The exhibition celebrates the group’s collective journey – showcasing individual artworks that reflect their courage, creativity, and personal growth. It also pays tribute to those who, due to health challenges, were unable to complete the course but remain an important part of the community that emerged.
Woughton Community Council said the project reflects its continued commitment to supporting mental health, community connection, and personal development through creative and accessible local programmes.
> The exhibition is being hosted at the Health & Wellbeing Club, 99 Jonathans in Coffee Hall.
It opens on Friday (Nov 14, 6pm-8pm) with further chances to view on Saturday and Sunday, between 2pm and 4pm.
