Drug money set to go to charity following ruling by judge.
Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a married couple from Milton Keynes have been sentenced over drugs and handling stolen goods offences.
Amjad Ahmed, aged 33, of Rowditch Furlong, Redhouse Park, Milton Keynes, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and three counts of handling stolen goods during a hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on Monday (24/9).
Ahmed was sentenced to a total of five years and three months’ imprisonment and disqualified from driving for four years and seven months.
It was also ordered that £1,000 of the money seized from Ahmed goes to charity.
Hussain was given a two year prison sentence, suspended for two years, ordered to perform unpaid work and given a three month tagged curfew from 6pm to 6am.
She was also fined £500.
On 1 November 2017 and 13 January 2018, Ahmed was stopped in a vehicle and was found to be in possession of cocaine.
His phone was seized and provided evidence that Ahmed was involved in organising the supply of Class A drugs across Milton Keynes.
When the defendants’ home was searched, a further amount of cocaine was found, along with a significant amount of cash, and the investigation also provided evidence that Hussain had been involved.
Ahmed was also found to be arranging to buy and sell cars which had been stolen in burglaries across Milton Keynes.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Sarah Clement, of the Investigation Hub based at Milton Keynes police station, said: “These sentences reflect the robust approach by both the police and courts to disrupt and bring to justice those that choose to repeatedly exploit the most vulnerable in our communities.
“The fact that Ahmed was also directly linked to the handling of stolen vehicles illustrates how closely theft is linked to the use and supply of Class A drugs.
“The significant impact on innocent members of the community, who, in this instance, had their homes broken into while they slept, cannot be overstated.
“I hope that these sentences deter others who seek to finance their addictions and support their illegal business interests in this way.”
