Milton Keynes Cookery Academy achieves charity status and seeks permanent home

Auntie's Cookery Academy, which delivers an NCFE- certified life skills qualification including cooking, budgeting, CV writing and employability skills, is now a fully registered charity.

“It sets us up to reach more 18 to 25-year-olds who didn’t win the parenting lottery, strengthen our partnerships and take braver steps as we plan for 2026, said founder and CEO, Emily-Jane Dale.

“When we first launched back in May 2024, we didn’t have grand strategies or glossy plans. What we did have was a belief that food can change things for young people who are stepping into adulthood without the safety nets many of us take for granted. Since then, we’ve spent a lot of time listening, learning and really understanding what young people are up against,” Emily told MKFM..

“The simple, everyday things that help independence feel a bit less like free fall and a bit more like something they can actually manage.

“What began as a small idea between co-founders has grown into something much bigger, thanks to our partners, local leaders, supporters, and of course the young people who’ve trusted us enough to walk into our sessions with curiosity and courage,” she added.

Milton Keynes Cookery Academy is now looking for a permanent home in the new city, which will enable it to support even more young people.
