Milton Keynes company launches digital COVID-19 memorial to put a 'human face to each life lost'

A local company has launched a digital global COVID-19 memorial to commemorate those who have lost their lives to the virus.

The COVID Memorial is a live representation of the global impact of COVID-19, with a growing number of dots representing the millions of people around the world who have died as a result of coronavirus both directly and indirectly.

Every second, the site slowly fills up with black dots that represent the lives lost from COVID-19.

It aims to replace every dot on the site with the story of loved ones who deserve to be remembered. Individual memorials hosted on the site can be shared with friends and family, anywhere in the world.

The creators said: “Over the past twelve months we’ve witnessed too many friends and colleagues who haven’t been able to grieve properly for any number of reasons; from self isolation, to lockdown measures.

“In response to this, we’ve created something that is completely accessible and free to use, because we strongly believe that every single life lost around the world should have the chance to be commemorated and celebrated.”
