Milton Keynes community pub to install a kitchen

Owners of the Cock Inn in Hanslope submitted the plans as part of a refurbishment of the pub.

Milton Keynes Council granted permission for the 'vital' kitchen so that the pub can continue to trade in the tier system.

Without a kitchen, the pub could potential be forced to stay closed after the current lockdown.

In the planning permission application made to the council, the pub would be open from 12pm till 11pm every day.

The plans are part of an overall refurbishment of the current pub, including improvements to the toilet areas to include a disable toilet and the ground floor trading area.

The pub is considered to be vital role to the local community according to the statement made in the planning application.

The Cock Inn said: "The pub currently operates as a community drinking establishment only and there is no existing kitchen facility. A food offer is vital to the business case of the pub.

"Without the provision of food to customers, the business is not economically viable and the building cannot continue to operate as a public house.

"It is very important to the owner of the building to retain the pub as a community asset and hub and offer local jobs."

The pub is currently closed due to national lockdown measures.
