The Milton Keynes community came together yesterday (September 1) to support two charities in receiving a generous donation by clearing away 102 tonnes of sand at centre mk.
Yesterday nearly 100 volunteers showed up to support Medical Detection Dogs and The Henry Allen Trust clear away the centre mk pop-up beach.
The clear-up fostered a strong sense of community, as families and friends showed up ready and enthusiastic to get the job done, including the Deputy Mayor of MK, James Lancaster.
It took participants three hours to clear up a total of 102 tonnes of sand and the help from the volunteers led to each charity receiving a generous donation of £1,000 from Keith Emmet & Sons.
Medical Detection Dogs trains dogs to recognise the scent of human diseases, intending to create quicker, more effective, and less invasive diagnostic methods that improve patient outcomes.
The Henry Allen Trust supports patients at the oncology units of children's hospitals by offering various benefits, whilst also providing 'Treats' and 'Wishes' to families across the country, along with counselling and financial assistance.
Dawn Allen, the Director and Founder of The Henry Allen Trust said, “On behalf of The Henry Allen Trust, I would like to thank everybody involved, especially Keith Emmett and JNRS Event, MKFM for all the amazing support given to the incredible Team Henry volunteers who always just make me smile and are forever backing Henry’s legacy, and to the amazing families that we support; thank you for coming to help and giving something back, it means the world. Also, the chance to meet the amazing guys from Medical Detection Dogs and talk about even more collaborations, we are super excited about the future. Thank you everyone!”
Charlotte, the Corporate Partnership Manager at Medical Detection Dogs said, "The biggest thanks to all the volunteers involved, we couldn't have done it without you. The turnout was amazing and it was so lovely to see the community come together for two charities that make such a difference to so many people's lives. Thank you to Keith Emmett & Sons and MKFM for their continued support!"
James Lancaster, Deputy Mayor of MK said, “Incredible work from all involved in tonight’s clear up of the sand. The City of Milton Keynes came together to support, and I could not be prouder of everyone involved!”
Following the strong sense of community, Keith Emmett & Sons donated an extra £1000, donating a total of £1,500 to each charity.
Keith Emmett JNR said, "I was overwhelmed with the turnout for the clearing of the centre mk beach. Both charities attended with an army of volunteers and seeing the support from the local MK community was so inspiring! I’m thrilled to announce we will be donating an additional £500 to each charity for the unparalleled team efforts."
