Milton Keynes College and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing apprenticeships offer podium start for careers

Milton Keynes College and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing are offering six apprenticeships to would-be engineers seeking a life in the fastest of fast lanes in the world of Formula One.

Three of the successful applicants will work in electronics and the other three in sub-assembly, that is learning how to deal with the racing cars’ hydraulic systems, gear boxes and so on.

Head of Apprenticeships at Milton Keynes College, Anna Clarke, says, “For people who are passionate about the sport or about cars in general this is the opportunity of a lifetime.  Aston Martin Red Bull Racing is at the forefront of motor vehicle technology and for the successful applicants these apprenticeships offer the chance to kick-start their careers with a top employer.”

Taylor Smith is an electronics apprentice with the team and he says,

“Joining the apprenticeship scheme is a great alternative to going to university; you learn skills directly related to the job and gain valuable experience at the same time. I was offered a place on both the apprenticeship scheme and a university course and although at the time it was a tough decision, I haven’t looked back since. The work ethic at Red Bull is second to none which lends itself to a great team environment, your colleagues will make you feel involved and as though you’ve been here for years! I would recommend the programme to anyone thinking of becoming an apprentice as I have been impressed with the quality of training provided by Red Bull and the opportunities I have been given to further develop myself as a person.”

Aston Martin Red Bull Racing says it chose to work with Milton Keynes College because they are very flexible in shaping the apprenticeships to suit our very specific needs. They say the College has excellent facilities and they know they’ll get the results they need.

The vacancies are expected to be highly sought after and the advertisements for them say that, “The work is demanding and the pace of development is so fast your feet will barely touch the ground but job satisfaction really doesn’t get any better than the winning feeling of making a real contribution to a grand prix-winning car.”
