Milton Keynes City Council starts work on transforming Queensway

Work starts on Queensway at the end of October and should be finished in spring 2026.

At the end of October, Milton Keynes City Council will start work on Queensway in Bletchley to help make the high street a more attractive and accessible place to visit and do business, as part of wider work to help Bletchley and Fenny Stratford communities and businesses thrive.

The Queensway improvements are being funded by a £22.7 million investment in Bletchley and Fenny Stratford of Government ‘Town Deal’ funding secured by the city council and partners for upgrades to public spaces and transport links.

Residents and business owners are among those who have given feedback on what the improvements on Queensway should look like, after proposals were shared through 15 consultation sessions as well as at community events, at MK College and local schools.

As a result of their feedback, the city council is:

    • Building safer and more accessible pedestrian crossings

    • Installing new street furniture and planting News release PR 22 October 2025 Page 2 of 2

    • Creating more space for outdoor seating in front of cafes and restaurants

    • Increasing the number of parking spaces, including disabled parking

    • Installing better signage and lighting

    • Preventing pavement parking

The funding also covers improvements to Aylesbury Street which started in July and were completed at the beginning of October.

Leader of Milton Keynes City Council, Cllr Pete Marland said: “Bletchley is full of potential and we’re proud to be investing in its future. The improvements to Queensway reflect what local people have told us they want to see – safer, more welcoming spaces that support businesses and bring people together. I’d like to thank everyone who has helped shaped the proposals so far and look forward to continuing these conversations about what matters most to local people.”

Work starts on Queensway at the end of October and should be finished in spring 2026.

Residents and businesses will be kept up to date about the work throughout, and four community drop-in sessions are held each month where people can ask questions.

November’s sessions will be held on:

Monday 17 2-4pm Frank Moran Centre, Melrose Avenue

Thursday 20 5-7pm Bletchley Library, Westfield Road

Monday 24 2-4pm Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council, Sycamore House

Wednesday 26 4-7pm Bletchley Leisure Centre, Princess Way
