Milton Keynes City Council presents a new roadmap for a greener, cleaner and fairer city

Milton Keynes City Council has updated its Sustainability Strategy so that it can take practical steps that help you cut energy use, reduce household bills and benefit from long‑term improvements.

The strategy was refreshed following a public consultation. More than 80% of local people, businesses and community groups told us the previous plan needed updating.

Your feedback directly shaped the new approach, which sets out clear actions to help households save money, improve neighbourhoods and support the long‑term health and resilience of our city. The refreshed strategy is built around five key areas:

First is the economy, where MKCC is working to expand local skills and help businesses grow sustainably so new jobs can be created.

Second is energy, with a focus on improving the efficiency of buildings so bills come down and homes are warmer and healthier.

Third is emissions, where the council is improving bus services and making sure you have more options for walking, cycling and choosing cleaner vehicles.

Fourth is the environment, which means protecting and enhancing our much‑loved parks, lakes and wildlife habitats.

Finally, engagement focuses on strengthening MKCC's partnerships with communities, local groups, businesses and organisations to make the biggest impact by working together.

The full strategy can be accessed on the website.
