Some of the city’s most vulnerable families have been given a much-needed break thanks a union between Milton Keynes City Council and Bucks-based charity, The Getaway Foundation.
Since 2021, the charity has provided 86 free UK holidays to local families in poverty, which have been paid for by generous donations from its supporters.
The holidays offer families who are struggling financially or facing challenging circumstances the chance to spend quality time together and create positive memories. The City Council works closely with local organisations to identify families who would benefit most from the support.
“We’re incredibly grateful to The Getaway Foundation for their continued support. For families under pressure, a holiday can make a huge difference – giving them time to relax and bond,” said Councillor Joe Hearnshaw, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, “From speaking to these families, we know that the vast majority have seen a long-term positive impact on their wellbeing.
"This partnership is about more than just a trip away; it’s about giving families hope and helping them build resilience for the future.”
