Milton Keynes City Council is encouraging residents to view its proposal for improving two roundabouts in the city and give feedback that will be reviewed and considered.
MK City Council (MKCC) is looking at how traffic levels and future development should be managed, and one location that has been identified is the Monkston and Brinklow roundabouts, as traffic on one will impact the other.
Significant assessments have been carried out, including traffic modelling to look at what options are best. MKCC is now seeking to hear from residents, encouraging them to comment and share feedback on the proposal.
Monkston and Brinklow are ‘missing pieces’ in terms of resolving capacity challenges along the J13-J14 corridor. They represent crucial next steps in enhancing the network on the east side of the city. Failing to address these areas could prevent MKCC from fully capitalising on the investments made in previous projects.
The proposal states, "Traffic modelling of the Monkston roundabout in feasibility stages of the project indicated that a larger roundabout, without signalisation, would suffer from significant delays and congestion."
Improvements to the Monkston and Brinklow roundabouts were factored into the 'base case' of the Strategic Multi-Modal Model, meaning all related forecasts assume these upgrades will be completed as planned. If not delivered, it could jeopardise Plan:MK modelling, hinder future growth and affect land allocation for new developments.
The Monkston and Brinklow Roundabout improvements consultation ends at 5pm on September 14, 2024.
