Milton Keynes children’s charity in new appeal for ‘friends’

Bereaved kids fund calling for support from local businesses.

Harry’s Rainbow, the charity that helps bereaved children, is using the next MKFM Meet of MK gathering to appeal for new support from local people and businesses.

The award-winning charity continues to grow and help more families, and that means increased costs and additional strains on the good cause’s resources. But it is using this month’s MOMK meeting to find new supporters and appeal for increased backing.

“We love being one of MKFM’s principal partners and are so thankful to everyone who supports Harry's Rainbow,” said Alison Johnson, the charity’s Fundraising and Events Manager.

“If you have a spare bottle of bubbly or a box of chocolates, please bring it along to May’s Meet of MK. To you it may be a simple box of choccies, but to us it is the potential of a hamper that could be raffled off at a variety of events to raise vital funds to support our beneficiaries.”

It costs the charity about £650 to support a bereaved child for a year, so every penny raised to allow them to continue their work really counts.

“So please pop an extra box of chocolates or a bottle of booze in with your weekly shopping or dig deep in the back of your drinks cabinet and bring it along to MOMK on Thursday 29th May, at the Kobe Steakhouse in Milton Keynes” said Alison.

“Alternatively, go one step further and become a 'Friend of Harry's'. For as little as £5 a month you could be helping the sustainability of the only bereavement children's charity in Milton Keynes.

“It costs approximately £40 to gift a memory box and book to a bereaved child and last year we registered 179 children. Our memory boxes are the first interaction that bereaved children have with Harry's Rainbow.

“Here's a comment from a mum that received them for her three young girls who's Dad recently died: ‘I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the memory boxes we were sent out. They are absolutely beautiful and so are the books inside. We honestly feel so lucky to have been sent them’.”

“If you sign up, please come to our stand on the MOMK night and we will gift you one of our 'Friends Bears' and have a selfie shot with you,” said Alison.

“Harry's Rainbow Vision is ‘To give bereaved children a brighter tomorrow’. Please help us continue to achieve our vision.”
