Age UK raiders take money and damage showroom in burglary.
A popular Milton Keynes charity store has been forced to remain closed after staff discovered a ‘serious break-in’ today.
Age UK’s Home and Furniture Store in Kiln Farm has reportedly been badly damaged in the raid which happened in the early hours of this morning.
The charity’s website says the store, which is open from 9am to 5pm on most days, is currently shut to the public. The police have been on site to investigate.
‘Due to a serious break-in, our Home and Furniture Store at Kiln Farm will be closed until further notice’, the website says.
“The break-in was done this morning just before 7am,” said William Matthews, who works in a nearby office to the charity.
“Only cash was taken, and the store was wrecked throughout. It is unclear on when they will re-open as they have signs out stating ‘closed until further notice’. Only Age UK was targeted and not the other charities or businesses in the area.”
The Age UK store in Milton Keynes has been robbed before. In 2020 it was attacked just days after the store had re-opened.
The charity works for older people across Milton Keynes offering a wide range of services and support for the elderly.
