Children’s charity Ride High raised a huge amount of money at their annual ball in January which will help them in their mission to support 120 vulnerable children every week in 2023.
The 1920’s themed evening was attended by over 200 guests and raised an incredible £113,000.
The charity says that the number of children with mental health challenges in Milton Keynes is continuing to grow and support services are limited and under increasing pressure and the money raised at the Ball will give hope to hundreds of children in need and provide Ride High with some security during what is likely to be a very challenging year for charities.
The Roaring Twenties Ball took place at Leonardo Hotel in MK.
Trevor Marshall was compare for the evening and showstopping performances from the Romeo Dance Academy, a casino and a 1920’s inspired eight-piece band helped guests to get into the ‘swing of things’.
Becca, an ex-member of Ride High gave a heart-wrenching speech about how the charity had been her lifeline during an incredibly challenging time, when she’d almost given up all hope.
She spoke of how she struggled to find the support she needed until a health care professional referred her to Ride High. Becca spoke of how attending Ride High gave her the confidence, strength and determination to carry on.
Last year Becca graduated from University. She thanked Ride High for playing a pivotal part in her achievements.
Becca’s story was met with huge applause and a standing ovation from guests.
Ride High’s infamous Live Auction led by their founder Rachel Medill MBE was another highlight of the evening. There were ten fantastic items – the highlight being the Children’s artwork, prepared by Ride High members in their clubroom sessions. The children presented this special piece on the night and were absolutely delighted when a bidding war concluded with longstanding supporter Marshall Amplification winning the artwork for the second year running!
