More than two decades after being inspired by British adventurer Debra Searle, Stu King is set to follow her lead - by rowing across the Atlantic!
He is taking on the challenge as part of a fundraising team of four.
"Getting to the start line is as hard as everyone says it is, but we believe wholeheartedly in our two goals," Stu told MKFM.
And those goals are to raise a whopping £200,000 for the charity Make A Wish UK, which will deliver 1000 life-changing wishes for critically and terminally ill children, and to motivate others to find their own inspiration and undertake their own challenge.
"It doesn't have to be huge," he said, "Just something you really want in life."
Stu - from Bedfordshire - has made Milton Keynes his base while organising this test of endurance, and new city businesses have been quick to support him - Pennings Accident and Repair Centre are among those who have donated, generously swelling the charity fund by £1000.
Team: Do The Thing will head off on the epic trip - one of the toughest endurance challenges there is - on January 23.
The whopping 3,200 mile journey will be completed with no sails and no engines, just grit, teamwork and belief.
Facilities on board will be basic too, with only a small area for sleeping, and a bucket replacing a traditional toilet!
How does Stu know that he is ready and equipped to take on the challenge?
"It's a mental thing really," he said, "Challenges are always about making sure you are outside your comfort one. We don't know that we're ready, for sure. It's about having a long term goal and making sure that you continually work towards that."
The team aims to complete the crossing in seven weeks, finishing in Antigua.
