Milton Keynes business leaders challenged to unite to fight homelessness

CEO Sleepout is challenging bosses from companies across Milton Keynes to take part in its next event held in the city.

On November 9th 2020 at Stadium MK, business leaders will give up their warm beds to literally ‘sleep out’ in a bid to raise money for local charities fighting to tackle homelessness and poverty.

CEO Sleepout has partnered with local charities MK Dons Sports & Education Trust and YMCA, to bring together senior level executives and corporation owners from the local business community to spend the night under the stars, experiencing a little of what those without homes go through every single night.

“Although it’s only for one night, and doesn’t come close to what homeless people experience night after night, CEO Sleepout is intended to raise awareness and lots of money to fight homelessness locally and nationally, but also to remind all of us in business that we have the power to make a stand against inequality.”

“We are very grateful for the many business people who have taken part in our fundraising events across the country and want to challenge the Milton Keynes business community to show their generosity and get involved.

“We’re inviting CEOs, senior level staff and their teams from across Milton Keynes to take part in what is sure to be a memorable and rewarding night.” CEO Sleepout’s Chief Executive, Bianca Robinson, comments.

The event will be limited to 50 participants initially, with measures in place to keep participants safe.

Since the charity was founded in 2013, CEO Sleepout events have been held at venues across the country, including at Wembley Stadium, St James’ Park Newcastle, Old Trafford cricket ground, The Alnwick Garden and Lord’s Cricket Ground. Its events have raised more than £2.7 million to date.

Business leaders at this year’s event will be hoping to smash last year’s phenomenal achievement of £79,000.

“I am really looking forward in taking part in this year’s event to help tackle homelessness and poverty across the UK. I am taking part to have a small insight into what it would be like to be homeless for the night. I urge people to help support myself and everyone else involved on the night as together we can really make a difference. The YMCA and MK Dons SET will also be supported during this event so its great that we can help raise vital funds for 3 amazing charities. Let’s beat last year’s total of £79,000!! ” MK Dons SET Community Ambassador, Dean Bowditch, quotes.

MK Dons SET CEO, Maralyn Smith says “I am pleased to be supporting CEO Sleepout again in November. Homelessness can affect anyone, and this proves an opportunity to raise concerns about the issue and raise funds at the same time”

“As Mayor of Milton Keynes I’m delighted to be able to support the CEO sleep out and to help to raise both awareness of and money to help tackle homelessness within our city. Anything that we do will never be enough, but it all helps, and I’m delighted to be able to support those who are working incredibly hard firsthand to tackle this issue. I’m also delighted that Dons SET, one of my Mayoral Charities for the year, are working first hand to support this excellent event, to help to support both the homeless and the excellent work that they do with our young people through sport” explains the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Andrew Geary.
