Milton Keynes-based sports bar to host major pool competition this weekend

    The MK Sports Bar and Lounge in Newport Pagnell is gearing up for this weekend's Lockdown Unlocked pool competitions and will be welcoming some of the world's top players.

    World number ones, current and past world champions and multiple international pool players will be attending this weekend's competitions. 

    This Saturday (29/8) will see the start of Lockdown Unlocked with both county and international players coming to Newport Pagnell at a bid to win some of the £1000 guaranteed prize pool in the Ladies competition. 32 players will be competing; three of the participants have held ten world titles between them and boast European and international success. Emma Cunningham, from Milton Keynes, is a co-owner of MK Sports Bar and Lounge and currently holds four of these world titles. 

    Amy Beauchamp, the current world champion, and Kirsty Davies, twice champ, will also be taking part. Internationals from home nations will be joining too, with local club residents Lisa Reynolds (ENGLAND), Maria Lewis co-owner (ENGLAND), and Lauren William (WALES) registering for Saturday's event.

    This competition will lead up to the main event, the Open, which will take place on Sunday (30/8).  World-class players will be coming from across the country to compete. Amongst the line-up is current world champion Jon McAllister, Dean Shields and Darrell Whitworth England internationals and are top 16 IPA Professionals - all have won countless major and domestic accolades. 

    Jon McAllister is looking forward to the competition, he said: “I travel to play comps at MK Sports Bar & Lounge as often as possible, the tables are great, the venue is top class and the competitions attract some big names.”

    Others taking part include Dom Cooney (ENGLAND) and 2019 World Finalist Luke Gilbert. Neighbouring Northants player Matt Barcock has won several tour events and MK Sports Bar and Lounge's very own Local Internationals Lee Killen (SCOTLAND) and Jamie McGauley (ENGLAND) will be competing for the title too.

    Both competitions will commence at 10am and are not expected to finish until midnight.

    MK Sports Bar and Lounge is a family friendly sporting club in Newport Pagnell with pool tables, dartboards, poker tables and a boxing machine.
