Milton Keynes-based children's cancer charity launches National Shoe Day to help kick off the lockdown slippers

Local charity, Supershoes, is encouraging everbody to kick off their lockdown slippers and put on their favourite shoes on Tuesday 18th May.

Taking place on the third Tuesday of May each year, the new National Shoe Day this year will encourage fellow shoe divas, welly lovers, walkers, dancers and runners to put on the pair of shoes which makes them feel most powerful and share a photograph on a message board.

Whether shoe lovers choose to whirl, walk, run or strut, Supershoes loves all things shoe-related and wants to share in the fun you’re having!

The volunteer-led charity creates bespoke trainers for children and young people in treatment for cancer, and they know just how great it makes someone feel to receive a special gift of footwear featuring all their favourite things.

Sarah White, CEO, tells us: “Parents report that a pair of Supershoes gives their child such a boost that they can’t wait to get up and out to show off their special shoes.  Even if they’re feeling really poorly after harsh chemotherapy, they tell us their child feels that their Supershoes give them superpowers and make them want to walk, skip, even jump when they’re wearing them!”

Will you join Supershoes and Put on Your Shoes for Supershoes this month? Share your shoes on the message board: https://supershoes.celebrationpage.org/showusyourshoes
