Milton Keynes Arts Centre invites people in Milton Keynes to join Ephemeral Lines event

Milton Keynes Arts Centre invites people in Milton Keynes to join the artists, Elmira and Ramona Zadissa, and the African Diaspora Foundation for an Ephemeral Lines event on 19 September both at locations in the city and online.

Ephemeral Lines is a digital platform designed to collect people’s experiences of lockdown. Through shared key-words, stories are connected – and the people behind them – from across Milton Keynes and beyond.

Since May 2020, over 60 stories have been collected through written word, voice recordings and images. These stories provide an insight into both the positive and negative impact of lockdown on people’s lives and examines what being housebound has revealed about the communities and the physical neighbourhoods surrounding each of us. The project has also included a programme of online workshops, offering people the opportunity to create artworks from materials in their homes, to share stories, meet the artists and one another.

A collection of the stories gathered throughout the project formed the basis of a large single artwork also entitled Ephemeral Lines, which will be presented at the Open Market, The Centre MK, in Milton Keynes on 19 September 2020 from 11am – 3pm. A programme of free activities suitable for all ages will be on offer throughout the day at both the market and Milton Keynes Arts Centre.

From 11am - 1pm, people can also choose to take part in a series of online events by visiting our livestream on their Instagram.

To submit your story and find out more details, please visit their website here.
