Milton Keynes Academy was graded good in all areas during an Ofsted inspection earlier this year, and now it has met the Ofsted challenge – with significantly improved student outcomes in exam success.
The academy set a new record in the number of students achieving passes in all subjects, the number of higher grades attained and the number of students who met the criteria for their next steps in education and employment.
“I am delighted that the young people in our Year 11 have achieved the results they deserved,” said Principal Gordon Farquhar, “It has been my absolute pleasure to work with them for the last four years, so to see them get the end results they have is really satisfying.
“Most importantly, this year group has not just delivered on results, they have driven change across all parts of the academy. They are every bit as impressive in the way they have led student councils, have partaken in extracurricular activities and have driven their community. Whilst we will really miss them, it is a real pleasure to wish them well for the future.”
Principal Farquhar added: “This set of results was particularly important following an Ofsted report which predicted that the work the school was doing would transfer to improved outcomes. Just three months after the report, that prediction has become a reality and shows why the staff, students and community are proud of their school.”
One of those who did fabulously well was Adam Klimaszewski. He achieved a perfect score in his maths exams – not dropping a single mark!
“I have a passion for the subject, and I love problem-solving,” Adam said, “My maths teachers were inspirational and taught me to keep going and be confident, and I would get to the end of a problem. In general, I had self-discipline and worked hard on subjects. In English, for example, I practiced my essay writing every day, focusing on changing the problem areas identified by my teacher."
The results mean that Adam is now closer to his goal of studying at Cambridge University.
Yuet Lam achieved ten higher end grades: “I am still a bit in shock to be honest, but I want people to know that our school is a place where real progress has been made,” she said, “I have seen it change over my time here and they have helped me achieve everything I have. People should make their own mind up about how good my school is because I know how great it is!”
Jason Howard, Trust Director of Education, said: “These extremely positive results reflect leadership, staff and the trust’s ambition for all our pupils across our diverse community”
"The overriding feeling about the academy is one of continued optimism and expectation. The academy is sad to see this year's group move on but are confident there are more great things to come in the future."
