The Met Office has today (22/08) put in place a yellow weather warning for heavy rain across many parts of the UK.
The warning is in force until at least 9:00am later this morning. In a short statement, a spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Heavy rain may cause flooding and disruption in a few places on Sunday morning.
"Whilst many places will miss the worst, some areas of heavy rain and a few thunderstorms will occur during Saturday night and persist into the first part of Sunday morning.
"20 to 40 mm of rain could fall in 1-3 hours in a few places, leading to some flooding and disruption. Rain and showers will ease from the west by mid-morning."
The Met Office believes that it is likely there could be disruption to travel during this period.
The Met Office has warned locals that:
- Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
- Bus and train services will probably be affected with journey times taking longer
- Spray and flooding on roads will probably make journey times longer
