Meet the two Olney residents who are travelling 2,021km for charity

Hannah Bowden and her friend Alina will be walking, running, skipping and cycling 2,021km for CLIC Sargent.

Their fundraising effort comes after Hannah was diagnosed with cancer aged 23 in 2019.

She told MKFM: "I was fortunate enough to receive invaluable support from CLIC Sargent in the form of financial aid, a designated Social Worker, and the provision of an online community.

"Now recovered, I have decided to help in any way I can to ensure CLIC Sargent is able to continue supporting children and young people (and their families), like me, who are diagnosed with cancer.

"And, as you will know, this support is needed more than ever as the pandemic continues and cancer services and treatment are restricted."

Last Thursday marked World Cancer Day, a day that unites people, communities and entire countries to raise awareness of cancer and take action.

This years theme was ‘I Am and I Will’, which encourages fundraising despite the current pandemic.

Hanna and Alina want to bring Olney together to be able to reach their target.

They said: "As a town, we are asking that you move (run/skip/walk/any way you can think of!) as many kilometres as you can, as part of your daily exercise outside or in the comfort of your own home/garden, from 4th February (World Cancer Day) and for the rest of the month, to help us achieve our collective goal of 2,021km."
