McDonalds and MKCCM Announce Love Where You Live Events

Teams from McDonald’s and Milton Keynes City Centre Management will gather for the third time this year on Thursday 22nd June in a bid to fight back against litter issues in Central Milton Keynes.

At 12pm on Thursday 22 June a group of new and regular Love Where You Live volunteers will meet at the centre:mk branch of McDonald’s before heading out for a clean up of Midsummer Boulevard, looping around Milton Keynes Theatre before returning along the side of the Food Centre and Milton Keynes Market.  Love Where You Live is the local output of a partnership between McDonald’s and Keep Britain Tidy.  Over the last four years, over 20 events have been held in Milton Keynes.

Ken Tomkins, owner of local franchise group Kaizen Restaurants, commented “We have had a fantastic start to our Love Where you Live ventures in 2017 with over 50 individuals supporting our initiative so far.  We look forward to this commitment growing with a strong community spirit at this month’s event.”

After the forthcoming event, the next challenge for the Love Where You Live team will see them embarking on the fourth annual 24 hour, 24 mile litter picking tour of Milton Keynes.  Volunteers will set off at 10am on Thursday 27 July and take in the sights, stopping at several local McDonald’s restaurants for fuel before finishing at 10am the next day.

Ken continued “The 24 hour event is the highlight of Kaizen’s Love Where You Live calendar and we look forward to seeing members of the community turn out for as little or as long as they can.  The route will be published over the coming weeks and we hope local residents and parish councils will be compelled to join us as we take pride in our city.”
