Mark Lancaster MP promoted to Minister of State for Defence

Milton Keynes North MP Mark Lancaster has been promoted to Minister of State for Defence in Theresa May's Conservative Government.

Mr Lancaster was previously appointed as the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Defence Personnel and Veterans from 12 May 2015 to 13 June 2017.

The new promotion means he is 'Number 2' in the Ministry of Defence, which is currently led by the Secretary of State for Defence Sir Michael Fallon MP.

Lancaster has been the local MP for Milton Keynes North since 2005, having won four general elections in that time.

He recently fought the 2017 election and secured a reduced majority of 1,915, down from 9,753 in 2015 and 8,961 in 2010.
