Man walks 15 miles to raise funds for Milton Keynes homeless shelter

Karl Halfacree walked 15 miles to raise money for the Winter Night Shelter Milton Keynes after they previously helped him.

On his fundraising page, Karl describes his motivation behind the campaign as he said: "On 26 July I will be walking approximately 15 miles in a village-to-village walk in Bedfordshire to raise much-needed funds for the Winter Night Shelter Milton Keynes.

"I stayed with them a few times over the years that I was homeless and they helped me to get a new chance at life so I want to do this to say thank you to the charity.

"I turn 40 this year and realised I have spent most of my life getting help and taking from people so it’s good now to be able to give something back.

"They helped me when I was in and out of trouble, it was a dark time in my life as I used to be heavy drinker and use drugs. They also put me in touch with Emmaus Village Carlton, who have helped me into the next phase of my life over this past year and I will always be grateful for that. I am clean now and studying for a business qualification, I’m due to start college in September.

"I want to do things to support the different charities that helped me, starting with the Winter Night Shelter as they were the first ones to help me. I want to let people know about fantastic charities like this that help people and to help support them, particularly after this horrible Covid situation which has put a block on so many things.

"Please show your support by making a donation. Thank you."

Although Karl has already completed his walk, you can still donate to his fundraising campaign. If you would like to help out by donating to the homeless shelter, please click here.
