Man arrested for drink driving while 'on his way to get a curry' in Milton Keynes

A man was arrested for drink driving while 'on his way to get a curry' in Milton Keynes on Saturday night (15/4).

This is all according to Thames Valley Police's Roads Policing unit, which aims to reduce accidents and stop criminals from using the roads.

Local officers took to social media to announce that two drivers, both completely separate to one another, were arrested for driving whilst over the limit.

One of these was a man that had popped out to get his dinner after having too much to drink.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police explained: "Two separate drivers were arrested for drink driving last night in Milton Keynes.

"One driver was on his way to get a curry and blew 116. The other had travelled from London and blew 84. There is no excuse for drink driving!"

In England, the current alcohol limit for drivers is 80 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath, or 107 milligrammes per 100 millilitres of urine.

If the police want to investigate whether an individual is over the limit, they will use a breathalyser at the roadside. Those who fail this basic test will then be sent to a police station to use a complex breathalyser, and will provide two more samples.

The amount of alcohol that an individual can drink and stay under the limit varies from person to person. It depends on several factors including weight, age, metabolism, how much food the person has eaten, and stress levels.

"Even small amounts of alcohol can affect your ability to drive so the only safe advice is to avoid any alcohol if you are driving," says Drinkaware on their website.
