Major road in Milton Keynes closed and homeowners reportedly told 'stay inside' due to gas works maintenance

A section of a major road in Milton Keynes is closed this afternoon (12/11) due to gas works maintenance.

Police have cordoned off a section of the V5 Great Monks Street, between the H1 (Greenleys Roundabout) and Stratford Road (Wolverton).

There are a number of gas engineers, and their vans, on site.

MKFM was contacted by a resident just after 3 pm who reported the strong smell of gas.

Several officers were also seen to be knocking on nearby house doors reportedly telling them to stay inside while they conduct the works.
