Passengers are being advised to check their journey plans as overhead wire problems are causing severe delays through Milton Keynes today.
Damage was caused yesterday to the overhead electric wires at North Wembley junction, between London Euston and Watford Junction.
There is a significant amount of work required to make repairs. Network Rail are putting resources in place.
Disruption is currently expected until 6am on Monday morning.
Avanti West Coast
Customers due to travel on Avanti West Coast services to or from London Euston after 8pm on Sunday 8 March are advised to travel on an earlier Avanti West Coast service as there will be severe travel disruption to journeys after this time and you may not be able to complete your journey.
The following alterations are in place:
- A reduced train service will operate between London Euston and Birmingham New Street will operate, at two trains an hour
- A reduced train service will operate between London Euston and Manchester Piccadilly, at two trains an hour
- Services to and from North Wales / Chester will terminate at Crewe where customers should connect to an Avanti West Coast service
- There will be an early finish to services this evening
You may use your tickets on;
- TransPennine Express to and from Leeds to Manchester and Liverpool to connect in with LNER services (all day)
- ScotRail services to and from Glasgow Centre and Edinburgh Waverly to connect in with LNER services (all day)
- East Midlands Railway services between London St Pancras International and Derby via Leicester in both directions.
- CrossCountry services between Birmingham New Street and Reading / Derby
- Transport for Wales services between Chester and Holyhead in both directions.
- Great Western Railway services between London Paddington and Reading
- West Midlands Railway via any reasonable route
London Northwestern Railway
Road transport is running between Hemel Hempstead and Stanmore.
