M1 re-opens following ‘serious incident’ in Milton Keynes with air ambulance at the scene

The M1 has re-opened in Buckinghamshire following a two-vehicle collision involving a van and a lorry.

At roughly 10:15am this morning (20/03), the M1 was closed in both directions by local authorities due to an accident occurring between J14 A509 (Milton Keynes) and J15 A45 (Northampton South).

Traffic was temporarily being held whilst Thames Valley Police, Ambulance Services and Highways England Traffic Officers attended the scene.

Highways England advised all road users to allow extra journey time as they should expected disruption when travelling in the local area.

Diversion routes were put in place to allow drivers to continue their journeys.

The northbound carriageway was closed through the morning into the afternoon to allow emergency services to manage the incident and potentially carry out investigation works.

The southbound carriageway was then later closed to allow an air ambulance and other emergency services to access the incident.

The road has now re-opened and traffic has returned to normal.
