London Midland and Virgin Trains cancel all trains to London on Sunday morning

Train operators London Midland and Virgin Trains have cancelled all services from Milton Keynes to London Euston on Sunday morning and are advising passengers not to attempt to travel.

The cancellations are in place as Network Rail needs to make repairs following major damage to overhead power lines in the Wembley area on Friday.

This means no trains will be able to access Euston station until at least midday.

The repairs mean that London Midland services to and from the capital will not be able to run south of Northampton or Milton Keynes while the repair work takes place. Virgin Trains services will also not be running in or out of London Euston.

However, the operators have said that the midday timescale is 'only an estimate' and that 'the work may take longer and therefore passengers planning to travel later on Sunday are advised to check their journey before setting off'.

Tickets dated for travel Sunday will be accepted by London Midland and Virgin Trains on Monday.

    London Midland customers may use:

    - Virgin Trains via any reasonable route
    - Chiltern Railways between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street
    - London Overground between London Euston and Watford Junction
    - London Underground between London Euston and London Marylebone

    Virgin Trains customers may use:

    - London Midland via any reasonable route
    - Chiltern Railways between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street.
    - Northern between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe
    - TransPennine Express between Wigan North Western and Edinburgh / Glasgow Central
    - Arriva Trains Wales between Crewe and Chester.

A London Midland spokesman said “We apologise to our passengers. Until the damage is repaired it just isn’t possible to run trains. So the advice has to be - don’t travel this Sunday until you have checked that the lines in and out of Euston have reopened.”
