Local Milton Keynes Town Council cancels Camel petting event following concerns from residents

Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council is hosting a Festive Family Fun Day this month with lots of activities planned, however one has been cancelled following feedback.

On Saturday 27th November, Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council is hosting a Festive Family Fun Day.

Families will be able to enjoy music, street food and visit independent market stalls.

There will also be a Santa's grotto and train rides as well as a planned Camel petting atraction.

Today (05/11), the Town Council has released a statement that the Camel petting event has been cancelled following upset from the local community.

The statement read: "We are really excited about our upcoming Festive Family Fun Day event on 27th November and we have arranged a fantastic variety of stalls and entertainment for the day.

"One element of the day was due to involve live camels working with an experienced and certified provider. The Town Council was satisfied with the welfare information from the camel provider and we had carefully assessed our joint arrangements for the day taking into account the well-being of the animals before advertising this attraction.

"However we have listened to the concerns of members of the local community who were very upset by this plan. We thank all those people who have contacted us and explained their views and based on their feedback we have decided to withdraw this attraction. This is one small change to a fun-filled day for all ages to celebrate the festive period and we look forward to welcoming everyone to our Festive Family Fun Day event."
