Milton Keynes business raise over £1000 for bereaved children

Facilities Management Solutions raise £1,000 for bereaved children with 150-mile virtual bike ride challenge.

On the 10th of May, Facilities Management Solutions raised an incredible £1,190 through their Virtual Bike Ride in support of Harry’s Rainbow, as part of the Franklins £50 Challenge.

The FMS team cycled 152.5 miles during the fundraising event, which beat their target of 145 miles – the distance from their office in Wymbush to Camber Sands, where Harry’s Rainbow sends families to their ‘Rainbow Retreat’.

The £50 Challenge, organised by Franklins Solicitors, challenges companies to raise as much money as possible for their choice of the partnered charities.

Over the course of a long day Dan, Matt, Shazia, Tyler, Lolah and Paulina took 30-minute stints on the exercise bike. Some friendly competition kicked in after a while, and Business Development Manager Matt put in the best stint, cycling 10.59 miles in 30 minutes!

Our Operations Director Dan Cole said: “This event presented a fantastic opportunity for our team to come together and support Harry’s Rainbow. We all had a lot of fun and were also able to smash our fundraising goal! We are grateful to each and every person who donated.”

Harry’s Rainbow is a Milton Keynes-based charity that supports children who have been affected by bereavement at an early age. They provide trips and opportunities, mentoring, support groups and more, including the ‘Rainbow Retreat’. The Rainbow Retreat offers a holiday for families that need some quality time together as they recuperate and build new memories.

Odette Mould MBE, the founder of Harry’s Rainbow, came and joined the team for a stint on the bike, during the afternoon.

She said: “I really enjoyed being able to go in and see the whole Facilities Management team and get to know them a bit better. It was great to be part of the competitive spirit of the team and see how determined they were to complete this challenge.”

“They met both of their targets; cycling to Camber Sands virtually, and also raising over £1,000 – which is absolutely incredible and would support at least one bereaved child for a whole year through our service.”
