Local councillors told incorrect parking surplus income figure in a meeting

An error in a Council document has led to local councillors being told a parking surplus income figure which was £1m lower than the actual amount.

The paper issued to all local councillors in a meeting yesterday reported that the parking surplus for 2016/17, the amount of money the Council has earned from parking, was £10.204m. The correct figure is actually £1m higher at £11.204m.

One local councillor told MKFM that the incorrect figure was placed in the document due to a typing error.

The document was authored by Sara Bailey, Parking Strategy and Implementation Manager for Milton Keynes Council on behalf of Cllr Gifford, the Cabinet Member for Place.
