Local councillor slams pothole repair work on Milton Keynes estate

A local Conservative Councillor has taken to social media to share an image of a pothole repair that she described as 'not acceptable'.

The image, shared on Facebook today, shows tarmac used to fill in potholes on a junction in a Milton Keynes estate.

Councillor Saleena Raja, for Shenley Brook End ward, wrote: "This is NOT acceptable! For any of you who are struggling to see what these patches of tarmac are in the middle of the street, in our ward...these are meant to be POTHOLE REPAIRS! Pothole repairs by a Labour - Lib Dem Progressive Alliance Council"

Councillor for the Tattenhoe Ward, James Lancaster responded: "Absolutely Awful!"

Cllr Peter Marland, Leader of Milton Keynes Council told MKFM: "The repairs to the road don’t look pretty but have been carried out by Ringway as temporary emergency safety repairs. They are to make the road safe. The good news is that as part of over £3.5m being invested in better repairs this road is already on the list to be fully resurfaced soon.”

Last month, it was announced that nearly £3.5 million will go towards resurfacing roads and fixing potholes in Milton Keynes

In February, MK Council agreed on £3.125m for road resurfacing and potholes as part of the 22/23 Capital Programme, with an extra £350,000 for additional pothole repairs put forward by the cabinet.

Milton Keynes Council say the money will ensure the city’s well-used roads can be properly maintained and tens of thousands more potholes can be filled.

MKFM understands that it wasn’t Pothole Pete that undertook the repairs.
