Local company celebrates making 'huge difference' to Milton Keynes community

A waste management company has revealed the scale and impact of its local community projects in its new ‘Good Things’ report.

From charity partnerships to sponsoring grassroots football teams, Cawleys - the region’s largest independent recycling company and family business – is celebrating more than £45,000 of support and donations to various social and environmental projects over the last year alone.

Helen Dixon, Group Fundraising and Marketing Manager of Milton Keynes children’s charity Ride High said: “Cawleys has been an amazing support for us, not just financially but also in terms of help and guidance.

“They take responsibility for all our waste collections which saves us £30,000 per year – the equivalent of supporting 120 children’s horse sessions. Their staff also sponsor, take part and play a pivotal role in the organisation of fundraising events.

“Helping to educate our members on recycling the team provide talks and plant tours which have proved incredibly popular. They are such a lovely family business, and we feel they genuinely care and want to help.”

Cawleys has also worked with MK Food Reach in their efforts to tackle rising food poverty by providing a lorry and driver to deliver 26 pallets of food and supplies to MK Food Bank and Baby Basics.

Alongside their charity partnerships, Cawleys also supports local sport provision. As a major sponsor of Olney Rugby Club, they provide free waste and recycling collections, sponsor the Colts team, and support the annual famous festival Olney 7’s. Attracting over 3,000 visitors, Cawleys provides segregated waste bins, and collects and recycles the waste immediately – ensuring the site is left clean and tidy.

Anna Cawley, Strategy and Communications Director, Cawleys said: “We are delighted to share the publication of our first Good Things report which highlights the many social, environmental, employee and health and safety initiatives we worked on last year in Milton Keynes and beyond.

“Demonstrating our active involvement and willingness to give back to help the local community we are proud of the long-standing relationships we have developed as a company within Milton Keynes, and our employees involvement in fundraising activities and volunteering opportunities.

“Our projects bring the Cawleys team together and we will continue our community support for many more years to come.”
