Al’s Pals was set up in tribute to Alan in March 2020 and as he loved musicals so much, what better way to celebrate the local charity's 1st birthday, than with a Night at the Musicals with West End star Zoe Curlett!
Al's Pals is a local cancer charity within the Cancer Centre at Milton Keynes University Hospital. Als Pals was named after one of Milton Keynes University Hospital’s patients Alan Dumbell. The charity offers a cancer buddy scheme and general support for patients and their families throughout their cancer journey.
Alan loved musicals and would often attend at least one a year with his wife Pauline or his daughter Suzanne. His favourite musical was Miss Saigon but he truly loved them all. He was fortunate to meet one of the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall before he passed. It was a dream come true for him.
Al's Pals are excited to celebrate their first birthday with West End star Zoe Curlett singing the songs of musicals on Friday 12th March. Zoë - a much sought-after, highly acclaimed soprano who has played leading roles in The Phantom of The Opera and Les Miserables, performed at the Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Variety Performance, sung with the London and Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and even invited to perform in a gala performance for HRH Queen Elizabeth at the Liverpool Empire theatre.
Zoë’s leading performance in Carousel with the BBC symphony orchestra, can be heard on BBC Radio and she’s in the 25th Anniversary production of Les Miserables at the O2 and features on the Oscar winning soundtrack from the movie. Adept at any musical style from jazz to opera, Zoe has sung all over the world in cabarets, concerts, private and corporate events, so Al's Pals are delighted and honoured to have her perform at their Night at the Musicals
Al's Pals is inviting local residents to join them for the show on Friday 12th March in Alan's memory. A minimum donation of just £10 to Al’s Pals Charity will guarantee you a ticket.
