Lakeview Lodge Care Home recently had the pleasure of hosting Newton Leys’ first ever Dementia Friends session, in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Society. Along with the team at Lakeview Lodge, the event drew in lots of local people and businesses, keen to make their community more dementia friendly.
The event was ran by the Alzheimer’s Society, who led a very informative presentation, discussing types of dementia and the prevalence of the disease over the past decade.
The Dementia Friends initiative now have over one million Dementia Friends across England and Wales, who are going out into their communities with a greater understanding of dementia and some of the ways they can help people living with the condition. Dementia Friends state their main aim is to help create communities in which people living with dementia feel more understood and included.
