Lakeview Lodge host Macmillan Coffee Morning

Lakeview Lodge Care Home in Newton Leys is hosting a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on Saturday 22nd September from 10am.

Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring some cakes to sell, (they don’t have to be homemade!). For those who are not bakers, there will be plenty on sale to enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee and to take home.

The event will be a great opportunity to meet people from the local community in Newton Leys, take a look around Lakeview Lodge Care Home and meet the residents and staff team.

Home Manager Beckie Wood says, “We are delighted to be part of the Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraising event. We look forward to welcoming everyone to join residents and staff at our Care Home. There will be coffee, tea and cake and of course a warm welcome for you at Lakeview Lodge Care Home!”

The annual mass fundraising event takes place in September every year and sees millions of people get together for coffee and cake. Since the event started in 1991 Macmillan coffee mornings have raised over £194million. The 26-year-old fundraising event is not only Macmillan’s flagship fundraiser but it is the original and most successful charity fundraising event of its sort. The first official Coffee Morning saw 2,600 supporters raise £208,000; by last year the number of registered hosts had risen to almost 220,000. Along with celebrity support from the likes of Larry Lamb, Martin Clunes and Alison Steadman in the run up to the day, #CoffeeMorning trended on twitter throughout the day and over 61,000 mentions of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning were recorded in the week leading up to the event.
