Lakeview Lodge Care Home celebrate Dementia Action Week with full week of dementia friendly activities

    The care and care home, in Newton Leys specialises in the care of elderly residents living with dementia.

    Lakeview Lodge Care Home in Milton Keynes are celebrating Dementia Action Week 2019 with a packed schedule of dementia friendly activities and fundraising events. The well-being and activities team have planned plenty of activities for people to enjoy throughout the week and invite the local community to come and join in the events.

    “We are looking forward to a fun week here at Lakeview Lodge” says Home Manager, Beckie Wood, “All my staff team are very passionate about caring for our residents living with dementia. The well-being and activities team have put a lot of thought and care into selecting a wide range of fun social activities that everyone enjoys and join in with, whilst allowing opportunity to raise awareness about dementia”.

    On Monday 20th May the care home is kicking things off with a biscuit decorating competition, residents and guests can join in the fun by decorating together. Residents will be baking their favourite gingerbread men and everyone can enjoy getting creative with the decorations. Throughout the week the care home will have a ‘Guess Who’ competition with photos of residents and staff as children for people to guess who is who!

    The highlight of the week will be Friday’s Alzheimer’s Tea Party from 3pm, residents, family members and guests will be enjoying tea, cakes and entertainment to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.  

    Dementia Action Week is Alzheimer’s Society’s annual event this year from 20-26th May, with the aim of encouraging people, workplaces, schools and communities to take action and improved the lives of people living with dementia.
