Plans to improve the Lakes Estate and redevelop Serpentine Court are due to be submitted for planning permission in February 2020.

In November 2018, 93% of people in Serpentine Court voted to fully redevelop the estate. Since the vote, Milton Keynes Council has worked with residents and community representatives to develop detailed proposals.

At a Regeneration Cabinet Sub-Committee on 14th November, councillors will consider the proposals for both Serpentine Court and the wider Lakes Estate prior to submitting a planning application.

They include building 589 total new homes, 279 of which will be council homes, a community hub and retail facilities as well as improvements for the wider Lakes Estate.

Following the vote, Milton Keynes Council organised ten consultation events, welcoming more than 600 people to share their feedback on the emerging proposals.  A drop-in session is held twice a week at Spotlight where residents can ask questions and get more information.

Conversations will continue with residents throughout the planning process, ensuring they have every possible opportunity to help shape and influence the plans.

Serpentine Court would become Milton Keynes’ first major regeneration programme.

A ballot in Fullers Slade is set to take place on 29th and 30th November.

Michael Kelleher, Director of Housing and Regeneration at Milton Keynes Council, commented: "Residents across the Lakes Estate have played a crucial part in developing these proposals, which now include plans to build two new playgrounds, additional parking and a range of other community facilities."

"We look forward to continuing our work with the community as we prepare to submit a planning application for Serpentine Court and the wider Lakes Estate early next year."
